I suppose that now Mikey is almost 3 months it would be a good idea to post the birth story...before i forget. Although it was a pretty unforgettable story =)
On Monday, November 26th, I went in for my 38 week check up hoping and praying this little guy would show progress of a near future birth. Nada. Nothing. Zip. Zilch. My doctor told me I was at almost a one. But lets be honest, she was prob trying to make my feel better. I was most likely a zero. Since Kaiser does not jump start your labor until at least 39/40 weeks, there was nothing she could do but give me a list of at home labor inducers until the following Friday, when she would strip my membranes.
Sex...no thank you. I was like a beached whale. Once I was in bed, there was no moving for this gal.
Primrose Oil...check. Started taking that a week prior to soften my cervix. Shit did nothing but give me god awful indigestion.
Castor Oil...check. No wonder people have gone into labor with that shit, I didn't even take the dose allotted and threw up immediately what it seemed like everything I had eaten in the past 9 months. It did give me some good contractions though, but nothing consistent. I would never recommend castor oil to anyone. Ever.
I was defeated. Nothing was going to work and this kid was going to stay inside me forever.
I decided to just wait til Friday to get my membranes stripped. Oh how i cringe thinking about it.
Fast forward to Friday November 30, 2012.
I went in for my 830 appointment and was extremely nervous about this procedure. Although it lasted all of 3 minutes, it was quite possibly the worst pain I had ever felt in my entire life up to this point. (Mind you, I have given birth before. With pretty much no epidural-it never kicked in, was inserted wrong with my daughter).
If this procedure wasn't workin, I was in for it!
After my doctor appointment, I went about my day, shopping since I was told to stay walking for at least an hour after to jump start the effects. I started feeling contractions, very irregular abut 30 min after the procedure, but I also cramped pretty bad immediately after until I went into labor as well.
Hours passed and I was so scared my water would break while I was at the mall, or sitting in my car.
By 3pm, I was having consistent contractions about 3-4 min apart, but it was bearable and I was not going to be one of those who went in the hospital to sit there all day. I wanted to mostly labor at home.
Later on that night, we decided to go to my cousins birthday dinner 45 min away form my house. When we got there, my contractions started getting a little more intense but nothing not manageable. And then I lost my mucous plug. I was never so excited to see something so gross come out of me in my entire life.
I calmly whispered to Mike that we might want to leave the kids with my mom, as I had a gut feeling we would be going to the hospital that night.
At about 9pm, we headed home and I couldn't make my mind up if I wanted to go in yet, or ride it out a little longer. Mike fell asleep once we decided to relax a bit and I decided to let him get his rest in.
I on the other hand breathed through contractions cussing out Mikes ability t sleep when I simply could not fall asleep.
At 530am, enough was enough, I knew I needed to make my way to labor & delivery. I was convinced I had progressed a lot. So we loaded the car, filled up on gas, got some coffee and headed to the hospital...
